I got the go ahead from Ryan to change my brief.
At the beginning of the year, I was going to have a book cover and two internal illustrations.
I didn't, at the time, bank on how much character design was going to factor into my project.
To make sure I have quality over quantity, I will instead be handing in x2 character design sheets.
(This is because I will be making these up anyway so I know in advance what my characters costumes will look like on my boo cover).
The book cover I am going to continue working on the same as before.
This change though, actually messes up some of the technical objectives on my brief to.
I was originally going to use illustrator and InDesign to aid with the layout of my pages. As I am doing just the cover now, and two character pages, these two programs aren't as relevant.
I could still use them, but using them would be now down to experimentation, rather than necessity as I could feasibly do everything I needed to in Photoshop.
I will still use them if I think I need to and the opportunity arises, but I will probably edit my brief so as not to make them a necessity. I want to have a high quality and result for this module, so I don't want to spend a long time getting familiar with programs that I now wont necessarily need.
Again, it's a case of quality over quantity. I'd rather use one program (Photoshop) and get a great result than spend a lot of time getting used to illustrator/InDesign as this is time taken away from actually working on my final piece.
