Because of this, I update him on my progress on a regular basis. When I showed him this flat colour of Polgara, his immediate and only complaint was that "Her hair shouldn't be silver it should be way more white and noticeable."
This really confused me for a bit because within the colour palette I made up for myself, and in comparison to the rest of the colours in the image, her hair is very pale. I quickly realised what the problem might be. I sent him the same drawing of Polgara but on a darker background and he immediatley changed his mind, saying the hair was fine.
What this has taught me is that presentation of my work is important. I might know what I'm doing but people who are not be, or who are less versed in art/colour comparisons will not know.
Because I put the image on a white background, the hair looked comparatively very dark. The background I sent the image to my boyfriend the second time round gets the point of the hair across, ut is now much too dark. I need to start paying more attention to how I display my process and imagery. I think is the point here that I've learnt and that I'm trying to explain.
