Why Polgara face 2 is a stronger design
In Disney, and in a lot of drawing an animation... (I'm just using Disney here as an example because they have a lot of characters in the same style.) Shapes are used to define character.
Cute, innocent characters, always the good characters, such as Rapunzel and Elsa have childish rounded features to show goodness and innocence.
The more mature, strong characters such as Jasmine, Pocahontas and Hercules (who I just added in for a bit of gender diversity) have more angular features with more rounded aspects to keep a sense of approachability and softness in the design. ROUND = GOOD
Villains such as the evil queen and Maleficent are made up of angles as this makes the artwork/character appear more aggressive.
This is why the more angular Polgara is a better design, the more straight lines and strong shapes in her design make her seem more strong/stern as a character. This makes the design stronger.
